Death Wish 2018
The 2018 edition of Death Wish shifts locations from New York City to Chicago. Paul Kersey is sill the vigilante’s name but he’s now a trauma surgeon instead of an architect. In both movies, after a brutal attack on his family, Paul Kersey embarks on a mission to seek justice.
I rarely like remakes, or any movies made after 2005 or so, but I like this one because it fits my definition of a “real” movie with very little CGI.
The movie stars Bruce Willis as Dr. Kersey. He’s one of my favorite actors. Elisabeth Shue plays his wife – the first time I saw her in anything since The Saint in 1997 with Val Kilmer. Vincent D’Onofrio, a long-time favorite of mine all the way back to Mr. Wonderful (1993), plays Paul Kersey’s brother.
Dean Norris, DEA agent Hank Schrader from Breaking Bad, plays the cop who can’t find the assailants and Camilla Morrone, Al Pacino’s real-life step-daughter, plays Paul Kersey’s daughter.
This completes my triad of vigilante movies, all of them good ─ Death Wish (1977), Eye for an Eye (1996), and Death Wish (2018)
