Striking Distance

Striking Distance provides plenty of action – murders, car chases, boat chases, and explosions.

IMDB describes 1993’s Striking Distance like so:

Coming from a police family, Bruce Willis ends up fighting his uncle after the murder of his father. He believes the killer is another cop and goes on the record with his allegations. Demoted then to river duty, the killer taunts Bruce Willis.”

Bruce Willis starts out as a homicide detective – but all the other cops think he ratted out his partner – so he becomes an outcast – loses his badge for disciplinary reasons – then resurfaces two years later as an officer with the river patrol.

Sarah Jessica Parker winds up as his partner with the river patrol – or is she? In any case they become partners in more ways than one.

Dennis Farina seems to be a good cop.

John Mahoney – another cop – isn’t Frasier’s father in this one, he’s Bruce Willis’ father.

Robert Pastorelli – yet another cop in the family – appears to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge into the river.

The frame is on when dead bodies keep turning up in the river – so that Bruce Willis finds them – and the victims all have former romantic ties to Bruce Willis. In the meantime he’s obsessed with trying to tie these murders into the unsolved Polish Hill murders.

If you like action – you got it –there’s a car chase which – in my opinion – is better than the car chase in Bullitt with Steve McQueen – there are boat chases – and explosions.

My outlaw biker saga Born to Be Wild – is still selling at Amazon, Kindle, and most book sellers – 30 years after Warner Books published it – get your copy while the supply lasts.
