Murder, He Wrote

Murder, He Wrote

I don’t know Johnny Depp & wouldn’t want to be seen with him in public, or private. But if I were casting my new crime novel The Dead Stripper for the screen I’d want him to play lead character Steve Piasecki. He’s an amazing actor with tremendous range.

But let me qualify that somewhat.

I’d want the version of Johnny Depp when he played Donnie Brasco in the title role of the 1997 movie Donnie Brasco.

Steve Piasecki is 34 and Johnny Depp was 34 when he palyed Donnie Brasco.

Now Let’s break down the book description for The Dead Stripper:

“Like Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote, Uber driver Steve Piasecki finds himself thrust into the role of amateur detective. To solve the crimes he encounters, he uses moxie, charisma, and determination.

An aspiring author, he moonlights with Uber to pay his bills.”

So The Dead Stripper is like Murder, He Wrote. The main difference between “She Wrote” and “He Wrote” is that Jessica Fletcher was a middle-aged woman who I would not describe as sexy, but Steve Piasecki is a handsome, young Uber driver. Which makes it easy for him to become embroiled in as many romantic adventures as he does murder cases.

“The Dead Stripper begins when he picks up an exotic dancer at the Babes in Toyland topless club in Philadelphia and transports her home. He keeps driving that night, but the plot thickens the next day.

The Uber Connection features topless dancers, professional wrestlers, detectives, DEA agents, medical examiners, lawyers, judges, the New York publishing industry, and an opioid operation that stretches from the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico, to the Zheng cartel in Shanghai, to a drug ring in New York, and then all the way back to the streets of Philadelphia.

And, oh yeah, there’s an interesting love triangle involving Steve and a pair of lovely young ladies from the Main Line.

Inspired by real people and real events, The Dead Stripper rings true from beginning to end.

I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.

My first book – Born to Be Wild – was published in 1992 and is still selling on Amazon & Kindle. it’s a true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.

The story took 21 years to play out with many twists & turns. It’s an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
