Homage to Geno’s Steaks
Shots of Geno’s Steaks are obligatory on almost every Eagles prime time TV broadcast. There’s the establishing shot, like the header above, usually followed by somebody’s hand chopping up large quantities of steak on the grill, like the one below.
Great exposure for Geno’s. So I decided to try to pay homage to Geno’s by starting out THE DEAD STRIPPER with an Uber driver approaching Geno’s Steaks in South Philly. Below is a screenshot of the first five paragraphs, small ones, on the first page of Chapter One.
I highlight one local landmark after another during the telling of the story, along with mentions of TV shows, movies, songs, actors, groups, and anything I believe will provide a commonality between the story and you, the reader. Hopefully, this enhances your reading enjoyment.
THE DEAD STRIPPER is the reincarnation of MURDER, SHE WROTE – but with a handsome young Uber driver playing the part of Jessica Fletcher. And since he’s young and handsome, this enables the story to become a murder mystery/love story. Based on the title, it’s not hard to figure out who the first victim is, is it?
Except for a one-day trip to Manhattan, the bulk of the story takes place in Philadelphia, Delaware County, and the Main Line – with an important interlude in Phoenixville.
THE DEAD STRIPPER takes us into the worlds of opioids, drug cartels, crime, detection, the courtroom, and the New York publishing industry. And although it’s a work of fiction, every person, place, and event is inspired by real people, real places, and real events. The result is a story that rings true from beginning to end.
The release date is set for March 1st.
