Blow
Blow is a 2001 movie inspired by the true story of George Jung and how he, working through the Medellin Cartel in Colombia headed by Pablo Escobar, established the American cocaine pipeline into the United States during the 1970s. The movie stars Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.
PeeWee Herman isn’t mentioned as one of the stars, but he’s a key player in the movie.
I watched Blow two months ago to start preliminary research on my next two books, which take us into the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico and into one of the successors to Escobar’s cartel in Colombia. In fact, I tracked that 17 tons of coke that landed at the Port of Philadelphia last June all the way back to the jungles of Colombia.
On a personal note, I would never wanta have a beer with Johnny Depp – but he’s a magnificent actor. Love every one of his performances. I woulda loved to nail Penelope Cruz – but we’d hafta keep the lights off so I wouldn’t be able to see the silicone or the ferret face. And in regard to PeeWee Herman, this one piece of advice – stay away from adult movie theaters when PeeWee’s in town.
I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.
My first book – Born to Be Wild – Published in 1992 – Still selling on Amazon & Kindle. A true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.
The story took 21 years to play out – many twists & turns – an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
