The answer to yesterday’s “Who Am I?” is David Strathairn.
Call Me
Like I said yesterday – woke up to a young Steve Buscemi on the big screen.
Recognized him easy – but not the movie. But I liked it so I kept watching.
Then this guy pops up in a few scenes – so often I should know who he is – but can’t place him.
And I should because, as it works out, saw him in at least a dozen movies.
Did a little digging & ID’d him.
David Strathairn – 136 credits – although I didn’t know his name, I saw him in Silkwood (1983) – At Close Range (1986) – & Eight Men Out (1988).
I didn’t know his name until he played Tom Cruise’s brother in The Firm (1993). From there, I saw him in The River Wild (1994) – 3 episodes of The Sopranos – Fracture (2007) one of my favorites – and 6 episodes of The Blacklist.
The movie is 1988’s Call Me. IMDB describes Call Me like so: A journalist agrees to meet an obscene caller at a bar and ends up witnessing a murder.

The journalist is played by Patricia Charbonneau – 51 credits – but nothing I saw her in. She was okay – which makes me wonder – How did she get the starring role?
Steven McHattie – an amazing 214 credits but I never saw him before – played the bad guy – but tough to take seriously with that bad hair dye.
Sam Freed played the journalist’s boyfriend who wouldn’t lay the hammer on her – which left his girlfriend vulnerable to the obscene phone calls.
He’s got 52 credits – says he was in Coneheads (1993) – saw it 100 times but don’t remember him – plus 1 episode of The Blacklist but don’t remember him in that either – mostly TV work.
The movie was OK – glad I watched it – here’s the trailer.
