It’s 13 degrees when I start this morning at 5:45 – late start because I got a new phone – alarm didn’t go off.

Pick up a guy in Chester – black male, thankful for the pickup – not many drivers out this early – sometimes long waiting times – going home to Chichester.

Pick up a guy in The Hook – that’s Marcus Hook for anyone unaware – black male, football fan – going to data processing job in West Chester – pass nostalgic stops along the way – first bachelor pad – Favorite Grandson’s High School (West Chester East) – West Chester Airport – landed there once in a small plane.

Just 9 degrees when I pick up a sleepy teenager a mile away – white male – going to Franklinville, New Jersey – hour ride but well worth it.

Over the Commodore Barry Bridge – used to be farmland on the other side – as far as the eye can see – in all directions – but not anymore – get back to that later – going dead East & the sun’s just coming up.

Fighting tremendous sunglare for 30 minutes – 2-lane back road – maybe 5 or 6 cars in both directions the rest of the way there – sleepy kid sleeps the whole way there – Franklinville’s just a couple crossroads with lakes.

Now come the negatives – I refuse to paste a Lyft logo on my back window – therefore, can’t pick up rides in Jersey anymore – changed sometime during this outbreak of the Faucibonic Plague – gotta dead head back to the bridge.

Stop to take a picture of the vanishing farmland – huge corporate distributions centers – almost as far as the eye can see – in all directions – many built – Amazon, Walmart, and, Target – plus some corps I don’t know – and more complexes under construction.

Cross the bridge – catch 2 more rides on the way home – Favorite Son & I eat “authenic” Mexican food from Taco Bell for lunch – es bueno – going back out from 5-6 this afternoon – need 5 rides to collect 2 bonuses.
