West Side Rat Trap

West Side Rat Trap

Better Call Saul is my favorite TV Crime Series. I can’t tell you how many times I watched the whole series from beginning to end. Watching it right now. But that said, the show is not without faults.

Come on writers – Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, and Gordon Smith – the series is extremely successful and you folks are “making bank” – as Marco would say. So how about doing some fucking research before you put out something that erodes your credibility.

Let’s take a look at this scene from Season 1, Episode 6. Two detectives from Philadelphia are grilling Mike Ehrmantraut – and Jimmy McGill is providing legal support.

Did you hear the detective from Philly say “ He responded to a shots-fired call in some West Side rat trap?” – Repeat – West Side Rat Trap.

I did.

There’s a West Side in Chicago and there’s a West Side in New York. They even made a movie about the West Side in New York. It’s called West Side Story. But there ain’t no fucking West Side in Philly.

There’s West Philly and Southwest Philly. But like I said, there ain’t no fuckin West Side in Philly. That’s pure laziness on your part.

I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.

My first book – Born to Be Wild – was published in 1992 and is still selling on Amazon & Kindle. It’s a true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.

The story took 21 years to play out with many twists & turns. It’s an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
