Last Sunday, before sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner, my Favorite Grandson and his Favorite Girlfriend told me about the Waco series on Netflix. Both said they liked it.

That pulled my trigger.

I told them that only two non-Branch Davidians had ever been inside David Koresh’s complex at Mount Carmel. Texas, outside Waco. Both were lawyers, and one was Dick DeGuerin.

I spent three months in Houston working on his defense team in the Operation Lightning Strike coverup. Operation Lightning Strike was a corrupt FBI undercover sting at the Johnson Space Center.

I told them Dick’s a native Texan. A cowboy who speaks with the Texas drawl and wears a cowboy hat and cowboy boots.

When the Grandson told me there was a lawyer in the series who wore a cowboy hat, I had to watch it. So I did and I liked it. Russ Linn – who played banker Kevin Wachtel in Better Call Saul – played Dick DeGuerin.

I thought the series was good.

Operation Lightning Strike was evil – but doesn’t come close to the evils perpetrated by ATF and FBI agents at Waco.

FBI agents burned the complex to the ground and killed 76 Branch Davidians inside – including 25 children, 2 pregnant women, and David Koresh himself. The FBI then claimed the Davidians the fire to commit suicide.
