Torture Chamber
The eBook is now available.
Originally wrote this story 30 years ago. Today, if I were reading it for the first time, I would find it almost impossible to believe.
But everything really happened.
Gary Heidnik kidnapped six women, one by one, shackled them in his cellar, raped them in a crusade to create a pure race, stored them in a dungeon he dug beneath the cellar floor, and killed two of them.
This is what his torture chamber looked like. He used that large piece of particle board to cover the entrance to the pit under the cellar floor.
On December 23, 1986 ― two days before Christmas ― he kidnapped a young female, 19, then handcuffed her and led her down into the basement for the first time.
She saw several large trash bags sitting against the walls and thought body parts were inside them.
“You’re going to kill me,” she said to him. “Aren’t you? You want to kill me.”
“No,” he said. “I don’t want to kill you. Trust me, I’m not going to kill you.” He handcuffed her feet to a sewer pipe with muffler clamps, then pointed toward a hole in the basement floor. “I’m going to introduce you to my two friends down there.”
“They dead down there,” she said. “Aren’t they? They dead.”
“No. Just trust me. But shut up, or I will hurt you.”
She stopped talking at once.
“And when he took the lid off the hole,” she recalled, “I seen two girls coming out of there.”
And this is the way a police sketch artist portrayed the dungeon under the cellar floor.
