The In-Laws 2003
The 2003 version of The In-Laws is a comedy starring Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, and Ryan Reynolds ─ with Robin Tunney and David Suchet, and Candice Bergen on the undercard.
The new version moves from Manhattan to Chicago.
One of the main characters switches from a dentist to a foot doctor (Albert Brooks) but the other remains a rogue CIA agent (Michael Douglas.)
Like the original the doctors daughter (Lindsay Sloane) is marrying the agent’s son (Ryan Reynolds). But four days before the wedding Michael Douglas gets Albert Brooks involved in a zany misadventure that sends them into Europe. There, an international arms dealer (David Suchet) falls head over heels for the Fat Cobra (also Albert Brooks).
I don’t usually like remakes, but this one’s different from most. While keeping the plot reasonably similar, the characters are new and the venues are different. And somebody decided to give the name Cherkasov to Michael Douglas’ contact in Prague. I think the writers fucking around. Say the name fast and it comes out “jerk us off.”
One of my all-time favorites.
I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.
My first book – Born to Be Wild – was published in 1992 and is still selling on Amazon & Kindle. it’s a true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.
The story took 21 years to play out with many twists & turns. It’s an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
