The French Connection was the cat’s meow when it came out in 1971 – Why?
The French Connection
IMDB describes 1971’s The French Connection like so:
“A pair of NYC cops in the Narcotics Bureau stumble onto a drug smuggling job with a French connection.”
I was living in Manhattan when the movie came out. Although part of the story takes place in Marseilles, France – most takes place in New York City – and The French Connection was the cat’s meow.
Saw it back then – guess I liked it – but tried to watch it four times over the last three days – found it boring – and how can I put it? – Oh, wait, I know – lousy.
Checked with my Favorite Son a few minutes ago – he watches quite a few movies himself – in his opinion the movie stinks.
Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider are the NYC cops – for Scheider – five years before Jaws – for Hackman – four years after Bonnie and Clyde.

and I approve this message.
Warner Books published Born to Be Wild in 1992 & it still sells every day at Amazon & Kindle. True story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.
The story takes 21 years to play out – with many twists & turns – an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy & Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
