Life or Something Like It
Life or Something Like It is a 2002 comedy romance starring Angelina Jolie, Edward Burns, and Tony Shalhoub.
Anglina Jolie plays a TV news reporter who seems to have the world by the balls until a homeless-looking psychic (Tony Shalhoub) predicts her death.
Edward Burns is Jolie’s cameraman and reluctant love interest.
Saturday was my Favorite Ex’s birthday ─ she’s like 83 or 84, I forget which ─ she’s decades older than me. In defiance of the current bubonic plague epidemic going around we had a birthday party. There was mingling, some hugging and kissing, food, and a birthday cake of course. And then we got around to talking about movies.
The first actors who came up were Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. We were trying to figure out which one was the bigger asshole but it wasn’t even close ─ Angelina Jolie won by a mile. Just look at those boated lips.
But then my Favorite Son recalled a movie he liked that she starred in. Which is Life or Something Like It. I agree. I like it, too.
I guess Tony Shalhoub is best know for his starring role in Monk.
Ed Burns is an interesting story. When I was going to the New York Film Academy the in-thing to do was write, produce, and direct an independent film for the lowest budget possible.
Kevin Smith won with his 1994 piece of garbage Clerks. He supposedly spent just $27,000 on that static-camera movie in grainy, sometimes out-of-focus black and white.
If he spent that much, half of it went for food. Yet somehow the movie became a cult favorite and Kevin Smith went on the direct 30 more pieces of crap.
On the other hand Ed Burns ─ he now goes by Edward ─ well, I’ll tell you about him tomorrow.
I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.
My first book – Born to Be Wild – was published in 1992 and is still selling on Amazon & Kindle. it’s a true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.
The story took 21 years to play out with many twists & turns. It’s an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
