Jack Nicholson made his mark in 1975s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He already had three decent credits in his pocket ─ Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, Carnal Knowledge, and Chinatown ─ but other than Chinatown he was an also ran. But Cuckoo’s Nest put him on the map as a star.

And if you were a sports fan ─ as I was then, and still am ─ this sequence endeared him to me.

I’ve got to say this one again. When my wife and kids and I were walking out of the theater we were wondering if they used certifiable nuts in the movie, or actors. I’d never seen Danny DeVito before ─ he was in four crap movie before Cuckoo’s Nest and I missed them all . It was Christopher Lloyd’s first acting credit ─ eight years ahead of Taxi and ten years had of Back to the Future. These good looked like nuts, and acted like nuts..

There are a lot of classic scenes form Cuckoo’s Nest. This is one of several to come.
