Auric Goldfinger
Here’s a very recognizable Movie Villain ─ yet another name you might not recognize. German-born actor Gert Fröbe played Auric Goldfinger in the 1964 blockbuster Goldfinger.
For the most part, the name Auric means “containing gold.” So it’s almost like author Ian Fleming was playing an inside joke by naming his character Gold Goldfinger. In any case Auric Goldfinger was a bombastic megalomaniac who was trying to contaminate the U.S. gold reserves in Fort Knox. But James Bond sniffed out the plot.
Here’s a video explaining Goldfinger’s plan.
James Bond uncovered the plot and became the protagonist to antagonist Auric Goldfinger. At one point Goldfinger tries to give James Bond a laser hot-foot, but about halfway between Bond’s head and his feet.
This alone qualifies Auric Goldfinger as one of my favorite movie villains.
I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.
My first book – Born to Be Wild – published in 1992 – & still selling on Amazon & Kindle. A true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.
The story took 21 years to play out – many twists & turns – an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
