A 1:12 follow up to yesterday’s Dirty Dancing post – in addition to plot, acting, directing, & dialogue – I look for subtleties – & here’s a good one. The first time they appeared on stage, Jennifer Grey was so new at the routine, she refused to try the leap.

In the finale – around the one minute mark you’ll see subtle nonverbal communication between the characters – Patrick Swayze stares at Baby & gives her a little nod – he’s asking her if she wants to try the leap – when she gives him a subtle nod back – it’s a go – good directing – good acting.
