The Founder

The Founder is an intriguing story of Ray Kroc’s ambition, persistence, and ruthlessness.

I turned on The Founder (2016) just to kill some time – but wound up watching end to end.

IMDB describes it like so: “The story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who turned two brothers’ innovative fast food eatery, McDonald’s, into the biggest restaurant business in the world, with a combination of ambition, persistence, and ruthlessness.”

Michael Keaton (90 credits – just saw him in The Trial of the Chicago 7 and uncredited as Jennifer Lopez’ boyfriend in Out of Sight – never thought he was good as Batman).

He plays Ray Kroc who starts out as a traveling huckster of different types of restaurant products, then becomes the personification of the synopsis – a combination of ambition, persistence, and ruthlessness.

Not only does he screw the McDonald brothers royally – but he dumps his wife while at the same time stealing the wives of one of his franchisees.

John Carroll Lynch (123 credits – just watched him in The Trial of the Chiago 7) and Nick Offerman (130 credits) play the McDonald brothers.

Laura Dern (90 credits) plays his first wife and Linda Cardellini (66 credits) plays the second wife.

Amazing story.

Warner Books published Born to Be Wild in 1992 & it still sells every day at Amazon & Kindle. True story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.

The story takes 21 years to play out – with many twists & turns – an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy & Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
