12 Angry Men (1997)

I mentioned 12 Angry Men a few days ago – a 1957 black-and-white movie ─ but Joseph Feeney III just enlightened me. As it works out there was a remake in 1997 – in technicolor, as we used to say – and made for TV.

I never saw it, will keep an eye out for it, but the cast is equally as impressive as the original. Here’s the trailer.

Great cast includes George C. Scott (Patton), Jack Lemon (The Odd Couple), Ossie Davis (The Client movie & TV series), James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano), Tony Danza (Who’s the Boss?), Hume Cronin (Cocoon), Edward James Olmos (Miami Vice), William Peterson (To Live and Die in L.A.), and a few other guys I recognize but don’t know their names.

The movies were made forty years apart, but if I’m the producer or the director I’m looking to roll one of the actors over from the first movie. At first glance Jack Klugman and Jack Warden were still alive. They were old but so was Hume Cronin – what kind of name is Hume, anyway?

Thanks for the heads-up, Joe.

I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.

My first book – Born to Be Wild – Published in 1992 – Still selling on Amazon & Kindle. A true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.

The story took 21 years to play out – many twists & turns – an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
